Hello Everyone ⚔️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Welcome to Celtic Heritage Metal Detecting & Events South Wales . We look forward to having you join us this year for some fantastic Metal Detecting events in some "Amazing, Historical & Beautiful locations in South Wales" .

Celtic Heritage is run and supported by ex veterans and we aim to support wellbeing and mental health by providing you with fantastic, beautiful, and historical areas to detect, where you can feel welcome and safe with all the help you need.

2022 was a fantastic year for the group. We began searching this fantastic area in the heart of the National Parks of Wales in the beginning of the year and have discovered some amazing artefacts, 14 of which have been recorded with the National Museum of Wales. Ranging from Bronze Age, Roman, Medieval, Victorian and Georgian. This year we will be continuing our search through this historical and beautiful land, with new farms and new fields across clean undetected land.

Digging with the Young Archeologist Club ⚔️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The Group has recently been approached by by the Heritage Officer for NPT.GOV to provide a local Event for the Young Archaeologist Club (YAC). The day will give an intro to metal detecting and to learn about local history for children aged between 8 & 10 .The event will be taking place on Saturday 15/04/23 at a location within the Neath & Porttalbot area .

Portable Antiquities Scheme Wales Road Show

We have also been asked to attend a road show with the Portable Antiquities Scheme Wales ( PAS ) to give a talk on metal detecting and the hobby and also exhibit some of the group finds we have unearthed over 2022 . If you would like to attend and show your finds with the group please contact us through the website or the Facebook Group.

Hoard Update

The Hoard of medieval Edward 111 coins and Medieval Gold Ring ( which were discovered by myself and two of our members has now been submitted to Treasure. We have now been advised that this process will take some time and they will update us further .

One of the nicest Bronze pieces I have ever seen !

One of our members Wayne pulled this little beauty out of a side of a culvert , dug out for drainage , on a pastured field with us last year . He has now had it back from the museum who said "it was one of the nicest pieces he has seen in his career ".

Group Events Finds 2023

We have now launched our brand new website, where you can learn all about Celtic Heritage, participate in our upcoming events and monthly prize draws, and explore our photo gallery which we regularly update on a weekly basis with the finds our members unearth!

Every month we will be running our Prize Draws, where you will have the chance to win from some amazing prizes. Tickets can be purchased through our online store/website found in the main menu under “Monthly Prize Draws”.

New Events Tent for Summer 2023

We will be purchasing a new Events Gazebo this year for you all to enjoy. These are well made and proven to stand against strong winds and rain. It will be 6 x 3M in size, providing a great place to seek shelter for a coffee and chat.

Camping Events 2023

If camping is your thing, why not join us on one of our summer camping events where you can hunt for history at your pleasure in the heart of the National Parks of Wales

Or if you would like to just camp and experience what metal detecting is all about whilst you visit the local attractions like the Red Kite Feeding Centre or Archery and Bushcraft, or even just to get away to take in the breathtaking views.

Sunday Clubs

This year we will continue running our Sunday Club Digs, which will go live on our Events Page via our Facebook Group and on our website under 'Events & Rallies'.
Here you will be able to purchase your tickets.

How to get to us

To get to our events we use the commonly used app what3words.

what3words is an app much like Google Maps which the the emergency services and rescue services use. It will take you within 2 meters of the location from where we will be holding the events .You can download the app from your App Store on your mobile/tablet device.

We also provide a Google Pin Drop, by clicking on this link it will open up your Google Maps app and provide you with directions.
